Haven Day School is a new Christian microschool rooted in the Charlotte Mason philosophy. We are seeking a thoughtful, relational teacher who delights in children and longs to offer them a rich education filled with living books, nature study, short lessons, and plenty of time outdoors.

The Opportunity
We are launching with two multi-age class of approximately 10 students in grades 1st–3rd and 10 in 4th-6th

. The school week is intentionally spacious:

• Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

• Field Trips one Friday a month
   

This part-time schedule allows for deep teaching without the exhaustion of a traditional full-time load, while still offering meaningful compensation.

What You’ll Do

• Guide a small multi-age class using Charlotte Mason methods (narration, living books, nature study, habit training, and short, focused lessons)

• Create a warm, orderly, and beautiful classroom atmosphere

• Spend significant time outdoors with students

• Partner closely with parents who share our vision

• Help shape the culture of a brand-new school from the ground up
   

Who We’re Looking For

• A committed Christian who joyfully integrates a biblical worldview into teaching

• Strong interest in Charlotte Mason education (Haven Day School is committed to preserving the soundness of the Charlotte Mason philosophy of education.  We will provide ample training in the methods of Charlotte Mason and only request a desire to learn and grow.)

• Elementary teaching experience

• A love of nature, literature, and the outdoor life

• Relational, calm, and able to cultivate habits of attention, respect, and kindness

• Someone who thrives in a collaborative, start-up environment

• Must hold a valid Alabama teaching certificate (Elementary Education K–6 preferred).

• Someone who can communicate effectively and in a timely manner with parents, other staff members, and students.
